I am asking that every member
of Rolling Thunder Inc., Indiana Chapter # 1 be in attendance for our next
chapter meeting. This next meeting will be a very important meeting. We have
alot to discuss, as well as our chapter elections. Come to the meeting and cast your vote for
the candidates of your choice. We have several new members “running” for the
first time for several offices. So be sure to make this meeting and make your
vote count. The next meeting will be held on September 19th, 2010 at
12:30 P.M. at the Vets Center. SEE YOU THERE!!!
2010 ELECTIONS FOR
INDIANA CHAPTER 1
Chapter members Ed Daum and Larry Paynter will handle this year’s
election. The following positions are up for this year’s election: Chapter Vice-President Chapter Treasurer Chairman of the Board of Directors Two (2) members of the Board of Directors
Each position will be for a two year term, you must be a
member in good standing, meaning that you have the required number of events
and meetings and that your annual dues are paid up. NOMINATION WILL NOT
BE TAKEN FROM THE FLOOR THE DAY OF THE ELECTION!! The majority of the
board meetings take place prior to the regularly scheduled chapter meeting. As
a member of the board, you are automatically a member of the Ride Committee
that plans our annual trip to Washington, D.C.
PATRIOTS DAY IN
PLAINFIELD
On September 11th,
2010, there will be a ceremony to honor Vets in Plainfield. We will meet at
Indy West Harley Davidson at 1600 hours and depart at 1630 hours. Further
details will be forthcoming!!
THE RIDE HOME 2010 On September 16th-18th,
2010, Rolling Thunder, Inc. will be sponsoring the 2010 Ride Home
Andersonville, Georgia. For more information, please visit events website at:

KOKOMO REUNION On September 16th-19th,
2010, the Kokomo Reunion will be held in Kokomo, Indiana. Further details will
be forthcoming.
POW RECOGNITION DAY
On September 17th,
2010, Friday The Indianapolis POW/MIA Recognition Day Council will conduct the
2010 National POW/MIA Recognition Day Program. The program will take place on
the North steps of the Indiana War Memorial located at 431 North Meridian
Street, Indianapolis. We will meet at 1100 hours at North and Pennsylvania and
ride in as a group.
CHAPTER
MEETING/ELECTIONS
On September 19th,
2010, at 1230 hours, we will be having our regularly scheduled chapter meeting
here at the Vets Center. Also, it is imperative that EVERYONE
attends this meeting.......we are holding annual elections. MEMBERS MUST
BE IN GOOD STANDING TO VOTE!!!
RIDE AND SCAVENGER HUNT
On October 2nd,
2010, we will be sponsoring our 8th Annual Ride and Scavenger Hunt.
This event will start at Harley Davidson of Indianapolis and end up at the
Coachman Restaurant in Plainfield. Registration will start at 0930 hours with
the first bike out at 1000 hours and the last bike out at 100 hours. The last
bike in will be 1500 hours. The Scavenger Hunt will consist of various points
of interest throughout the route requiring the rider/passenger to answer
questions, collect objects and take pictures. BRING YOUR CAMERA!!!
Prizes will be given out after 1500 hours. The grand prize will be a minimum of
$250.00 cash!!! WOW!!! The registration fee is $20.00 for rider and
$15.00 for passenger!!! For more information contact Mike Clark at

POW LICENSE PLATES
These Plates are also available for Motor RV's as well as pull behind
RV's. You have to register it as n RV and must be under 11,000
pounds. Ask as you are renewing or getting new RV plates if your
RV is qualified. An RV Trailer / Motor Coach RV are not
empty shell trailers ( which are not qualified).
POW License plates
are here and are really selling throughout the State!!! Since the plate has
been made available to all Indiana motorists, plate sales have topped the 500
mark and is still growing!!!! NOTE: For those who have reserved a specific numbered
plate, when you go to the BMV to purchase your plate, make sure that you advise
the BMV/teller that your plates are listed under “ROLLING THUNDER.” AND
SPONSORED BY “ROLLING THUNDER” IF YOU STILL HAVE ISSUES ASK THE TELLER TO REFER
TO A MEMO TO ALL BMV ASSOCIATES DATED 01/08/10. Plates will then be mailed to
the address on your current registration in approximately ten (10) days!! You will be issued a temporary plate. We have a few
brochures available for you to distribute to local American Legions, VFW’s,
etc. in your areas. PLATE SALES ARE COMING IN FROM ALL AROUND THE STATE!!!
GREAT JOB IN GETTING THE MESSAGE OUT AND DISTRIBUTING BROCHURES!!! As plate
sales continue to grow, please continue to promote the plate for maximum
exposure!!! I would like to personally Thank Indiana Rolling Thunder, the
entire State of Indiana for all of the hard work, efforts and dedication that
so many individuals have set forth to make this project as successful as it
is!!! Keep up the GREAT work!!!! This really has been a true TEAM
effort!!! THANK YOU!!!

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
Currently, we are actively
working on House Resolution 111. I am asking that each and every chapter member
to continue to write and send letters to our State Representatives asking them
to sponsor House Resolution 111. Several documents were and will be made
available at upcoming meetings in reference to House Resolution!! OUR
ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES ARE IN OFFICE TO REPRESENT US THE PEOPLE!!! THIS IS WHO
WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO!!!
H. Res. 111: To establish a
select committee that shall conduct a full investigation of all unresolved
matters relating to any United States personnel unaccounted for from the
Vietnam era, the Korean conflict, World War II, Cold War Missions, Persian Gulf
War, Operation Iraqi Freedom, or Operation Enduring Freedom, including MIA's
and POW's missing and captured.
As of this date, 284 have
signed on as co-sponsors. Indiana Congressmen co
sponsoring the resolution are as follows:

Spc.
Ahmed K. Altaie, age 41, Army reservist assigned to Provincial
Reconstruction
Team Baghdad. Spc. Altaie is
from Ann
Arbor, Michigan.
On
October 23, 2006 was categorized as Duty
Status Whereabouts Unknown when he
allegedly was kidnapped while
on his way to visit family in Baghdad, Iraq. The
Pentagon changed his status to
missing-captured on December 11, 2006

Pfc.
Bowe R. Bergdahl, age 23, 1st Battalion, 501st
Parachute
Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th
Infantry
Division. Pfc. Bergdahl is from Ketchum,
Idaho.
Captured
in Pakitka province, Afghanistan, on June 30, 2009.
The Pentagon declared him Duty
Status
Whereabouts
Unknown on July 1, 2009, and his status was changed to
Missing-Captured on July 3, 2009.
